Aramco awards Jazan refinery contract to KBR
Saudi Aramco has awarded American construction firm KBR with a front-end engineering and design and project management services contract for the planned multi-billion-riyal Jazan refinery which is expected to process 400,000 barrels of crude everyday.

Aramco to Start Building Jazan Refinery in First Quarter 2013
MMC Corp. Bhd., a Malaysian company that is developing the Red Sea coastal city along with Saudi Binladin Group, said in a statement that Aramco expects to complete the refinery in the fourth quarter of 2015. The developers are planning to build Jazan’s port in the city’s southern district, known as Jazan Economic City, near where Aramco wants to locate its refinery, MMC said.

Speaking about progress of work at Jazan Economic City (JEC), Al-Dabbagh said an iron and steel factory will be established in JEC at a cost of SR1.5 billion. “About 30 percent of the project has been completed and the plant is expected to start production in the third quarter of 2011,” he said.
MMC’s Saudi port project to go on despite harbour being aborted
MMC announced yesterday that the tender for the harbour construction in JEC had been aborted in view of the impending change to the Jazan Oil Refinery’s location as requested by Saudi Aramco. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MMC said the port location would be changed accordingly and the details were being studied to finalise the changes.

MMC aborts Jazan construction harbour tender
MMC Corp Bhd has aborted the construction harbour tender at Jazan Economic City on the request of joint venture partner Saudi Aramco. The company said in an announcement to Bursa Malaysia Wednesday that the tender was aborted in view of the impending change to the Jazan Oil Refinery’s location.
